HOL-1906-01: Patching vRealize Operations with LCM

This part of the lab is presented as a Hands-on Labs Interactive Simulation. This will allow you to experience steps which are too time-consuming or resource intensive to do live in the lab environment. In this simulation, you can use the software interface as if you are interacting with a live environment.

The orange boxes show where to click, and the left and right arrow keys can also be used to move through the simulation in either direction.

In this simulation, you will use vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager to download and patch vRealize Operations to the latest releases.

Uploading a Patch to vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager

  1. Click on the Settings Icon 
  2. Navigate to the Product Binaries tab
  3. Scroll down on the side bar
  4. Click the Upload Patch Button 
  5. Click on the Click Here button to select a file
  6. Under downloads Click on the vrlcm-vrops-7.0.0-HF1.patch. Click Open 
  7. Click the UPLOAD button 
  8. Monitor Progress of the Upload. Click Done once completed

Applying a Patch to vRealize Operations

  1. Click on the HOME icon 
  2. Click on Manage Environments  
  3. Click on View Details 
  4. Click on the vertical ellipsis for vRealize Operations to see the available options 
  5. Click Patches, and then History 
  6. Notice that the Patch Installation History is empty for selected product version. Click Close 
  7. Click on the vertical ellipsis for vRealize Operations 
  8. Click Patches again, choose Install 
  9. Select the patch HF1 which is already downloaded in the Product Binaries tab 
  10. Click Next to review the patch details 
  11. Click Install . Click Done
  12. Click on the request screen
  13. Select the Product Patch Install. Click IN Progress tab
  14. Note the status of the request change from Initiated to Completed. This task can take several minutes to complete when doing a live upgrade.

Verify the deployed patch in vRealize Lifecycle Manager

  1. Click the Home Icon
  2. Click on Manage Environments. Note the patch version of vRealize Operations has been updated on the product card. 
  3. Click on View Details 
  4. Click on the Vertical Ellipsis for vRealize Operations to see the available options. 
  5. Click Patches, and then HistoryNote Patch Installation History has the patches applied for selected product version.  
  6. Click the right arrow to view the applied patch details 
  7. Click Close 

View vRealize Lifecycle Manager Notifications

  1. Click the Notifications icon 
  2. Click Bell ICON to view all Notifications 
  3. Look through the messagesNoticed that we have upgrades available for other products. When upgrades or Patches become available there will be displayed here 

This completes the simulation on Patching vRealize Operations with vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager. 

To return to the lab, click the link in the top right corner or close this browser tab.
